Looky Looky

Okay most of you know I am a major bargain hunter.... I frequent thrift stores weekly and find some great things. It's unbelievable sometimes what people get rid of! So I kinda have a addiction to this whole thing but I am usually buying to sell things so it's like a little high. So Drew had a Dr. Appt today and the office is right by my favorite thrift store which I swear I had no plans on going to today but it was 25% off day and I was right around the corner so you know I kinda had to go and boy am I glad I did - so just wanted to brag about what I got today cause I get so excited about this stuff I figured the blog was the perfect place to share... So I have my certain areas in the store that I always look at the place is huge so it would be impossible to go through the whole store (heaven) unless I was going to spend the whole day in there. I don't usually look at the purses but I swear I am psychic about this stuff last week I went to 3 different areas to look and see if they had 3 different items-
1. A Chi flat iron - CHECK
2. JUICY COUTURE Sweatsuit- CHECK
3. Big Star Jeans - CHECK

So anyways I am always Leary about purses there are a ton of knock offs floating around and I have never been too big on purses. I own 3 coach purses and I am pretty happy with that. So I found a burberry which I thought was fake 2 louis vuitton purses which I am praying are fake and a Prada bag which I wasn't sure about. I need to start studying purses. But I did find a Dooney & Bourke purse which I knew right away was the real thing - I had sold one for one of my friends recently on ebay. Soooo I will probably sell it but I might use it for a little while first =) While I was checking out at the counter I noticed a watch that looked familiar and got myself a polar heartrate monitor watch for running- it's the lowest model but still I have been wanting one but not wanting to spend the 100 bucks for it. So super happy - sometimes its hit or miss but it's so much fun when its a hit!
BTW I got both these things for $19 bucks !!!!

He wanted to teach the kids how to make home ec pizza - or so he liked to call it so he sent me off in the storm to shop. Good thing Target is only a mile away. SO we woke up this morning to NO SCHOOL! Our first snow day cause we got ourselves a blizzard. BRRRRRRR

Just one of those days part 2

No I didn't have a round 2 today actually today was a great Thanksgiving. I was on call and I did not get called for one. I got a extra $100 dollars for being on call today to stay home and cook! Woo hoo- the turkey came out good and so did everything else! So long story short yesterday before we met the locksmith I suggested to my husband trying the new key to see if it would work. Well I was told No that's not going to work yada yada yada ect. so we had the car towed to the house tonight Steve took the steering column apart decided he was going to the junk yard tomorrow and going to replace the whole thing. Well while it was sitting on my kitchen counter I decided to try the key guess what it turned- So now it's back in the car and working fine and feels so good to be right- sometimes it wouldn't hurt my husband to take my suggestions just cause I don't know everything about cars doesn't mean I am wrong. LOL Hope everyone had a great Turkey day!

Just one of those days

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seemed to go against you. That was my day today! It started with waking up late with a headache but I'm tough I'm a Mom we deal.

So today was Grandparents day at school and Steve's mom's back went out so she had to miss it. So I got the kids off on the bus then called the school because I couldn't remember what time it started - 9:30 and it's 9:15 so I threw some clothes on put my un brushed hair in a bun and out the door. Well that part of my day was good the kids sang and Derek even had a solo it was too cute! Oh and can you believe they sang GOD BLESS THE USA- so not political correct and I loved it! We made some crafts and picked up some lunch went home had to get Drew take him to speech. So all is well so far besides my hair.

So sometimes I get errands done while Drew is at Speech. I ran to Super Target to buy last minute Thanksgiving food items. Get in my car and realize my key is broken. Yep it broke inside the key thing. Well now I am in panic mode cause I have 15 minutes before I need to get Drew I considered trying to run to Therapy since it was only a couple of miles but of course my high heeled boots changed my mind- So I called Steve thank god he didn't have to work today . Told him to rush and come get me and Drew so of course we are late but only a few minutes which stresses me out I hate being late. We go home to get some tools, a spare key and find a babysitter for the kids cause we don't know how long it will be. Well I found my spare key keychain but guess what no key- What the heck? I still don't know have no recollection. So maybe it's in my car ??? I call Nissan to see if I can get a new key as a back up just in case it's not. So we go back to Target- No key to be found and Steve can't get the broken key out so we figure better try a locksmith. So we go home again and call a locksmith he says it's going to be about 100 bucks. So Steve goes off to meet the locksmith and I go off to borrow a car from one of our friends to go to Nissan to get a key made. So long story short- I got a key made. My friend took me and Drew to my car and the locksmith is working on it so the kids and I all hang out in Steve's truck. Well Derek being the 7 year old that he is was messing around in Steve's truck before I got there and had turned it off but left the lights on so guess what yep dead battery - I'm starting to laugh now it's been about 5 hours since this all started. So we ended up with my car is still sitting in Target's parking lot because the locksmith couldn't fix it we are going to have to get it towed in the morning and Steve is going to work his mechanic magic- a jumpstart and I still have a headache. So hopefully tomorrow is BETTER - I will be Thankful for a uneventful day HOPEFULLY!

Blog slacker

So I know I have been a slacker lately- I seem to have more things that I want to do than I have time for. Just a short post on what we have been up to. The boys are doing good. Drew is loving school and we have seen big changes since he started.
Derek has a love/hate relationship with First grade- loves the fun stuff but not the school stuff. Derek has been busy getting ready for Grandparents day on Wednesday at the school. They do a play and songs for all the Grandparents should be lots of fun! Steve has been busy with painting and working on his car (oh boy) and no he still hasn't let me drive it but he did let my mom drive it- Whats up with that?
I have been being integrated these last few days into the Delta culture. It's interesting to see how different we really are and it's kinda nice to let your hair down. Northwest has always been professional by the book pretty conservative and Delta is a little more fun and let's have cocktails after work- kinda strange but good- I haven't even begin to think about Thanksgiving let alone Christmas- gotta start pulling out my good ol Paula Deen recipes- if your gonna eat all that food you might as well do it RIGHT!!!!

My BABY IS 7!

Today was my first born's 7th birthday. I can't believe Derek is 7! Before I know it he will be 14 well just feeling a lil nostalgic and looking through some baby pics and since I am a total blog SLACKER these days I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share!

Derek has always been a pretty happy kid

and a little bit of a ham

and more of a ham
hmmm he is definitely not getting that from his MOM!

Are we seeing a pattern here- yep he is a wild crazy kid sometimes but he has a soft side too and is a great big brother ummm 85% of the time.....ok so I'm sure I could find a pic without crazy eyes but it is kinda funny

Drew broke one of his new toys about 5 minutes out of the box today and his response was that's okay Drew accidents happen- Bubba's not mad and gave him a hug - they are so sweet sometimes...

So Grandpa and Grandma from California made a special trip out for Derek's birthday weekend. Derek was so excited to have them here he can't wait until Mom will let him fly alone to California to visit (Mom is still not quite ready for that one)

Derek decided to have a ice skating party which turned out great! The kids had a blast and I didn't have to clean up the mess! It was a little nerve racking because a few of the kids didn't know how to skate but we had lots of help and everything turned out great! One lil minor injury - thank goodness no broken bones! Pics too come I left my camera in my car and now it's almost midnight and COLD- Yeah I know I am a wimp.

Note to self

So I just asked Steve to get the Halloween stuff down so I get put the costumes from last year on ebay from the attic. I told him oh if you see any 3T clothing up there for Drew get them down but I could have sworn I did it before summer- Note to self
before going school shopping for Drew make sure I have all the clothes out of the attic there was 5 boxes of 3T clothing up there- oops! Drew's dresser is already full now I have a new huge stack of clothing to find a home for! Guess I didn't really need to buy all those new clothes after all!!!!

September Days

Well I can't seem to stop and smell the roses these days. School has started and we are busy I have flown 8 days out of the last 10 so that always makes home life more chaotic. Derek is in full day school now it is so strange not having him in the house all day! The day is a little long for him but he is adjusting slowly but surely. Drew is going to school every morning for a few hours. A bus picks him up at the house it is so cute he gets so excited when he sees the bus. Drew turned 3 on Friday- I was flying so we celebrated last night with Steve's mom and Wade. Still running but I must admit I am not as consistent as I once was and I have a 10k coming up that I am no where ready for.

Just for fun

Just to see how much Derek has grown from last year to this year here is a side by side of both first days of school. I am hoping to catch the hopping off the bus this year too!

1st grade!

Derek started 1st grade today ! He is gone from 9-4! The house seems so quiet with just me and Drew. The time fly's so quickly! Drew will be starting school tomorrow and a bus will be picking him up right at the house! I am going to have a empty house for a few hours every morning- now that will take some time to get used too. I plan on using my time well- grocery shopping has become very challenging with Drew lately so I can definitely use my time there and running! I have been trying to figure out how I would find the time for longer runs and now I have it! Things have been busy and lots of changes coming our way! Drew will also be starting speech therapy tomorrow and we have started him on a special diet which is a huge challenge in itself.

I love this pic- it's just a snap shot of Derek taking care of his little brother - they may not get along all the time but Derek is always looking out for him.

Pancakes on the first day of school have become a tradition. Derek actually did most of the prep work and flipping with just a little help from Mom.

Here's Drew enjoying his "special pancakes"

Off to the bus stop- Drew had his back pack on for practice =)

Letting things go

Ahhhh why is it so hard to let some things go? I always try to focus on the positive and push the negative aside but sometimes the negative just pushes it's way back. I don't want it there I want it to go away! I just got my first complaint letter in 10 years - the 2 things written in the letter were things out of my control but it doesn't matter it bugs me so much that this woman left my flight with the perception that me and my crewmembers were not good employees. I know I take things to personally and I have a stack of good letters but this letter will follow me around the rest of my career - the good and the bad stay in your file forever! So my goal that I set to never have a bad letter will never be accomplished. Sorry just venting I am hoping blogging about it will help me let it go.

Another 5k and a new start!

Well just did my second 5K last night! Sorry no pics this time! Steve and the boys were going to come I left early and they were going to meet us at the finish line but on our way there was a ton of traffic because unknowingly to me there was a parade before the run! So thousands of people and chaos - not a good recipe for a 2 year old and 6 year old . So I called Steve and told him to stay home - will have to pick a more low key less publicized race. There was tons of runners! Over 5000! It was a little too much usually when you start running things start to spread out and there's not herds of runners - not this one I was running in a herd the whole time! We still had fun and it was a fun run- all the people that came to watch the parade were cheering on the streets of course it was hot and humid I can not wait to race in the fall! I was feeling sluggish the whole race so not expecting to better my time but I did! Guess training is paying off! So my first time was 31:35 My second time was 30:57 - baby steps I guess! I'm happy with my time though! At the end of the race we lost Carol's friend Jenny it took us over an hour to find her!

Oh and hey Kelly turned me on to a great website called Dailyburn.com it keeps track of your calories, fat , protein and carbs and gives you a realistic time to get to your goal weight - I'm tired of feeling blah and just want to feel good in my clothes again so its time to get serious stop talking about it and do it! If anybody wants to do it add me as a motivator and we can keep track of each other my username is Babyhex. I need all the help I can get being accountable.

Can I go to bed yet?

Some days I just want to go running back to bed and put the covers over my head.
Today I was a flying golf ball at my head subject (Derek) My ipod submerged in water (Drew) a clean kids room destroyed in a matter of minutes over looking over a lost DS game (Derek and his buddy Tucker) . Then after I made them clean it up I discovered everything pushed under the bed. Having to clean the fish tank that I hate and never wanted and that I was promised I would never have to clean because I couldn't stand looking at it anymore- anyone know if those algae fish kill goldfish? Okay Okay so today was not our best day for sure taking a deep breath and putting on my helmet for the rest of the day (flying golf balls / toys/ whatever) and thinking a glass of wine may solve my evening chaos.......

4th of July pics

We had a great time over the fourth of July I was able to get rid of my trip that had me completely gone over the holiday to just having to work that morning....
We went to our friend, neighbor, babysitters house for her party.
