Sprinkler Sunday

This morning has been fun so far. Well after our run - yep Derek and Drew went with me. Derek on his bike and Drew in the stroller - didn't go so well no jogging stroller and pushing a 30 pound kid while running I gave up after a mile and we went to the park instead. So hopefully Steve can stop working for 40 minutes so I can try again today. After the park we played outside with some neighbor kids for a while. Then the sprinklers came on - I think I am going to have to deal with soaked clothes for a couple of months- Drew here's those sprinkler's and goes running.

Adventures at the neighborhood park

So last night our neighborhood had some excitement- The kids and I were sleeping but Steve caught a little of the action. Some kids (I'm assuming- unless its the neighbor who got sick of seeing a porta potty out of their window) started the porta potty on fire - the whole thing burnt to the ground so of course Derek had to go investigate this morning and since it's right by the park we had to play too.

Here's a pic of Derek and our neighbor Tucker goofing off this afternoon ( no boat in site)

Happy Memorial Day!

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day! I am home for now waiting to see if I will fly or not so we will just be staying close to home today. Lucky for us we have a awesome neighborhood where everyone likes to hang out and bbq and have bonfires. Pics to come later!

Minnesota Roots

Not sure when it happened but I think Derek is officially a Minnesota boy. He will always be able to say that he was born in Cali but with words like Mom where's the pop? and Dontcha? Hmmmm Picks up those kind of things from the midwest kids. I don't think he will be able to hide his MN roots. I have heard that I have gotten a MN accent as well but I refuse to believe it. I was down in the South a few days ago and seem to pick up a southern twang so it's just where I am at the time. I'm still a valley girl at heart.

BASEBALL!

Tonight was Derek's first practice! He had a blast! There was a smudge on my camera lens that I did not figure out until I got home but oh well- plenty of more practices and games to come.
Steve's the Head Coach ( Go figure!)

Drew was pretty bummed that he could not play with the big boys- Thank goodness for snacks and parks !

Finally!

This morning has been great so far! Had a great run before the kids woke up. My coffee is especially hitting the spot this morning ( Thanks to Coffee Mate) and I just discovered my first tulip bloomed! I love spring time- now I don't have much of a green thumb so I get really excited when my flowers come in because it means I must of done something right! Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Boys and thier Toys

So Steve rented this truck with a bucket for a painting job. Of course he had to come home and play with it with the boys and give me a heart attack. I refused to go up in the bucket- not my idea of a good time!

Training update and Milestone!

Well I am at the end of my 5th week of training for my 5K . I am kinda surprised that I have completed each week even the week I was sick and had a sinus infection. I reached a major milestone today! My last session this week was to run 20 minutes with no walking - I was pretty sure I could not do it because up until now it has not had me run for longer that 5 minutes which I am usually huffing and puffing at the 4 minute mark so 5 to 20 minutes is a little bit of a stretch for me. I even possibly thought that maybe the writer of this plan made a mistake and put this in the wrong week- or maybe not.
So I started my run with the wrong attitude- instead of I think I can it was I don't think I can I pretty much had decided it was not possible before even trying. So I started my run and at about 3 minutes my side ache started which is nothing new which just helped me justify why 20 minutes was impossible so I had planned on going to what I have been doing all week run 5 minutes walk 3 repeat repeat. Well I hit 5 minutes and thought well why not just try and see how far I can make it maybe 8 minutes . Well 8 minutes became 10 then 10 became 12 then I was at 15 so might as well keep going I am so close! Well I did it- I can't believe it but I did so I am pretty proud of myself right now. Just a good lesson for me that we are all usually more capable of what we think we are . Five weeks ago I honestly did not think I could ever become a runner and although I don't deserve that title yet hopefully I will in the near future! I would encourage anyone that has always thought they could never be a runner to try!

Here's the plan that I have been following- From Couch to 5K which is a very fitting title for me since I was pretty out of shape before I started the plan.
