Monday Challenge! Week 2

Okay Week 2! My no soda has been going well I have slipped a couple of times but it was just a sip or two of Steve's soda and the one chug out of the bottle- So now this week I was going to try and give up my coffee which actually I have been cutting back lately think it has something to do with it being hot outside but somehow a bottle of my beloved sugar free french vanilla coffeemate made it in the grocery cart today so am going to put that one off a week or two or three......
So now my new goal is to sleep at least 7 hours a night! I have a bad habit of staying up and cleaning or doing laundry or internet time when the house is quiet (middle of the night) I think I average 5-6 hours a sleep half the week and I am thinking maybe if I am more rested I will have more energy to get everything done instead of waiting for the middle of the night to do it. Of course some nights are impossible due to my job ( red eye all nighter flights) like last night and maybe that's why I am so obsessed with sleep today because when I got home from work this morning I was woken up about 20 times by the kids
So so far week 1 was to give up soda
week 2 - to get enough sleep!
Hopefully in 6 more weeks I will have 8 lifestyle changes that make my life healthier and happier!
Well better go to sleep if I am going to make this work!

My first 5K!!!!!!!!!

Well I woke up bright and early this morning to do my first 5k! It was a great experience and a big accomplishment for me!
So my photographer ( Carol's significant other) missed me at the finish line so I only have a pic of after wards but hey there's always next time right? I guess I was just too fast for him- ha ha.
So out of 572 people running I was the 289th person to cross the finish line! Woo hoo I wasn't last. I only had 2 goals not to be last and to run the whole thing which I did both!
It had been storming on and off this morning so we got a hot and muggy run while I was running I was just hoping it would start to rain again to cool off but no luck until after the race of course! So my final time was 31:35 ! I was hoping for under 30 but I am still very happy with my time- I had been doing it at home in 34 minutes so it was a definite improvement- hoping to sign up for a couple of more 5K's in July and start training to do a 10K in the fall!

Here's me Carol and Jenny afterwards- it had just rained so we are not as sweaty as we look! LOL

And here's Carol my awesome mom in law -this was also her first 5K- I am so glad she decided to do it with me! She rocked it at 38:22!

Anchorage

Well I just got back from Anchorage yesterday and had a great trip! It's really a layover that I enjoy getting. I went on a run on the coastal trail and just wanted to share a snap shot of my views

also on my run I saw this!

Well not really but it did say watch out for bears and moose thankfully they did not feel like getting up with me that morning --he's stuffed BTW and in a store and it was on my way to the market place which has these amazing corn fritters with honey butter- the two things I have to get in Anchorage is Corn fritters (not so good for the diet) and Halibut which I had a amazing dinner with my crew the night before of blackened halibut and veggies (forgot my camera for that! ) but here's the corn fritters good thing I ran!

I also found BOBA tea! My favorite Cali treat well I have a few favs but I can not get it in Minnesota I always get excited when I find it on a trip- so far just Cali, Hawaii, Indianapolis and Anchorage! My fav is the Taro tea- well that's it hope you enjoyed!

Monday Challenge!

Okay my fellow bloggers! I have decided to try and make a small lifestyle change each week that will help me start living a healthier lifestyle! So every Monday I will make a post that will be my challenge for the week. My goal is to keep this going for 8 Mondays and at the end of that have 8 lifestyle changes that I have made.
Okay so I am going to give up Diet Coke this week! That's pretty much the only soda I drink so the challenge is really to give up soda. I have been saying I was going to do this for years - I'm not a huge Soda Drinker just about 1 a day so I am hoping it won't be so bad. So does anyone want to join me? Make your own challenge and tell me what your lifestyle change is! Can be a big change or little change- whatever you want!

Pay it forward!

Okay well now it's my turn for pay it forward. I actually signed up for 2 (Kelly and Grandma Mac's_ ) so come on folks! I know you want too! Okay so I just received Kelly's pay it forward in the mail and loved it. As most of you know I am training for my first 5k (10 days OMG! ) Kelly not only inspired me too do this (she is marathon woman) she motivated me too and helped me find a program to go by and gave me some great tips- Thanks Kelly! One day I hope to be able to do the Boston Marathon with her! So Kelly send me a great CD with some good tunes to listen to for my ipod! This is just what I needed so I am excited to run tomorrow with some new beats! She also sent me a Runner's World magazine with a great article on training for a 5k! So most of us know how this pay it forward thing works by now but if you dont heres the rules.

The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient will, in their turn, pass the kindness along and pay it forward in their own way. This is how it works… I am going to do some act of service, or something fun, inspiring or uplifting for the first 3 blog owners who post a comment on this entry (please leave your email address if I don’t already have it). In turn you will then post about this on your blog, link to me, then send something to the first three people who sign up to play along through your blog. If those who respond to you are local, you can do something in person for them, or you can send something you made, bought, were given or found. No biggie--just do something that will make the person smile. And remember that kindness doesn’t have to involve money; there are untold ways to help others every single day, everywhere you go - just look around!

Okay, first 3 people to comment.

Well I have had a long week and it's only Tuesday! It is summer now so I have been flying ALOT which when your accustomed to not working so much it wears you out when you have too! Also last night I came home to Steve buzzing Drew's hair- I love his long hair =( Of course he couldn't finish cause Drew wouldn't sit still so now it is only half done and looks crazy. So today is my only day off this week and I will be enjoying it cleaning my house! Oh the fun never ends just hoping that someone is looking out for me and gives me a Honolulu trip this week- I am desperate for a break! We did have some excitement with Drew he went to the potty for the first time! He has not been interested at all so I am hoping this is the beginning of no more diapers! Derek has been having a great time in Florida with Grandma and Grandpa and his cousins. They have been busy swimming and playing pool. My parents rented a house so they are in heaven. I asked Derek yesterday if he was ready to come home yet and he said NO Way ! No fair its too fun here. So I guess he is not homesick yet.
My mom sent some pics that she took

A day of last's and a day of first's

So today was a last for Derek and a first for Drew

Derek's big milestone today is he will never be a kindergartner again! Woo Hoo bring on the homework 1st grader! Derek was cute this morning he said he wanted to look extra handsome for the last day of school and like a gentleman.....hmmmmm wonder where this is coming from hopefully it's not to impress a older girl!

Our other first was Drew's first shiner- its even darker now wonder what it will look like in the morning. Unfortunately no funny story here just swung open a kitchen cabinet that swung right unto his eye- Ouch thank goodness he's okay though and of course Mommy had to document it!

BOYS

So we live in a great neighborhood with lots of kids. Lots of Boys. Crazy boys. I am not so sure if I was brought up to raise boys. Destructive crazy dirt loving boys. I can handle mine one on one but put them in a pack and it's all out madness. My sweet 6 year old lil man becomes obnoxious and bratty as soon as his friends are around. They are all old enough to know what's right and wrong so why do I have to constantly yell and remind them to behave. .... throwing rocks at our windows- not Derek or he would be in his room right now. Kicking Drew and leaving a mark- not Derek again or he would still be in his room. Disrespecting our things the list goes on and on. I know Derek is not perfect but if he acts like this at others peoples houses I would be horrified. I'm venting and annoyed that everyone likes to send their destructive kids to our house. I try to send Derek over to their houses and they are usually back to our house in 5 minutes with a couple of exceptions hmmmmm maybe we should move into a neighborhood with all girls (they have cooties)
